When your only exposure to plants is a chemically treated lawn and shrubs, when your only fruits and vegetables are the carbon copy, wax coated ones in the grocery store, you really don't have any way of knowing that there are many, many flying, crawling, burrowing and scurrying creatures in the natural world. Each of them have an important job in our garden and nature center - not just the attractive ones, like butterflies, birds and ladybugs.
I am concerned about our, and our world's exposure to a wide variety of things designed to kill other things - including "natural" pesticides/herbicides/mildewcides, etc. We NEVER spray anything in our Garden and Nature Center, our amendments and fertilizers come from Kellogg Garden OMRI rated products. "Bugs" are easily washed off - pesticides, not so much.
