I had fun with the students this month as we began our visits to the Garden.
The younger students learned about seeds first - we looked at many, many different ones, both packaged and from our Garden and Nature Center. We talked about what, besides planting, you can do with them, how they can "travel", how many new plants you can get from just one fruit with seeds and the fact that there is no such thing in science as "vegetable".
Mr. Lewis' class is studying Egypt, so we talked about what they ate and grew and the role that different plants and foods had to do with the wealth of that country. Although I do believe that it was far more fun for them to dig up some weeds...
